Though the Heat had a down year this past season ,missing the playoffs altogether, they are planning on a major comeback in 2016 with the idea of building another super team like they had with LeBron James, Chris Bosh & Dwayne Wade.

This time around the new super team involves Kevin Durant and others coming to South Beach to team up and get the Heat back to the NBA mountaintop.

According to Dan Le Batard of the Miami Herald, Heat President Pat Riley wants to resign Goran Dragic, then the following summer lockup Hassan Whiteside and go after the big fish in that 2016 free agent class in Kevin Durant.

This will make the team have to be as financially flexible and   free of any big contracts in order to make this plan work and become  a reality for all involved. This brings us to the current contract dispute between Wade and the Miami front office. The team does not have any interest in giving the longtime star for the organization as he gets older in his playing career and would command too much money to even think about pulling the new super team plan off.

From Wade's point of view he has sacrificed enough money over the years to make sure the team is in the best position to compete at the highest level in the NBA and have  a legitimate chance to win a championship. That strategy has paid off handsomely for both parties but the time has come now that Wade wants to cash in on  a new deal.

Riley and others within the organization will have to hope and pray that Wade will opt in for next season and $16 million so that he and the team can make a clean break in 2016 and leave them free of any big money obligations and can make a serious run at Durant and make him the point man in this next super team.

It would make for quite the starting five: Wade, Bosh, Dragic, Whiteside and Durant. It would be  a team that no doubt would catapult to one of the title contenders in the league for however long this core would stick around for.

It may seem like a pipe dream as of right now but many felt Riley could never get LeBron James  and Chris Bosh to agree to join Wade in Miami and form the Big Three. Turns out he worked his magic and two NBA titles and four consecutive Finals appearances,  he came up smelling like roses with his ability to bring superstars together and sacrifice their own personal goals for one big goal of the team.

Though this may be hard to duplicate a second time, never can doubt Riley and what he is capable of putting together in terms of a team.

Though 2016 is a year off from now, Miami is already making plans to recapture their place in the NBA as championship contenders.
