NEW ORLEANS, La. – A tough Tulane team and playing less than 24 hours after posting a big win over Southern Miss proved to be just a bit too much for the Jackson State men’s basketball team as the Tigers (2-10) fell 56-49 to the Green Wave (9-1) Friday afternoon.
Raeford Worsham scored a team high 14 points for JSU. He connected on 5-15 field goal attempts and went 3-7 from the free throw line. He also pulled down six rebounds in 34 minutes of action. Kaven Bernard came off the bench to score 11 points on 4-13 shooting from the field.
He also grabbed six rebounds. Jaleel Queary scored nine points on 4-7 shooting.
Louis Dabney led the Green Wave with 22 points. He went 4-10 from the floor and 12-15 from the line.
Neither team lit things up from the field, with JSU connecting on 31.6 percent of its field goal attempts and Tulane making 33.3 percent of its shots. The game was won, for Tulane, at the free throw line. The Green Wave made 25-of-35 attempts, while JSU finished 10-15 at the line.
The Tigers led only once when a Queary three-pointer gave JSU a one point lead (10-9) at the 9:29 mark in the first half. Bernard gave JSU its largest lead (12-9) when he connected on a jumper. Tulane’s Dabney hit a three with 8:12 left in the first half to tie the game (12-12). The Green Wave took the lead for good when Payton Henson made a layup at the 7:14 mark, making the score 14-12. Tulane built its lead to seven points and took a 25-18 into halftime.
JSU continued to battle in the second half, cutting the lead to four points two separate times.
Texas Tech def Arkansas Pine Bluff 72-51

LUBBOCK, Texas – Arkansas Pine Bluff played its second game in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic Friday night falling to Texas Tech 72-51 in Lubbock.
Texas Tech pulled away slowly in the second half as the Golden Lions shooting fell off considerably.
Ghiavonni Robinson scored 17 points and Marcel Mosely added 14 for the Golden Lions (2-9).
The taller Red Raiders dominated on the defensive boards, outrebounding Arkansas-Pine Bluff 37-25,
and got the ball inside for 30 points.
The Golden Lions fell behind by 20 points after a four-minute drought midway through the second half. Texas Tech's shooting got more accurate, while the Golden Lions' accuracy waned. The Red Raiders shot 48 percent on 23 of 48 from the field. The Golden Lions hit on just 31 percent from the field, hitting on just 15 of 48 field goals.
The Golden Lions failed to get their second straight road win after getting their first in seven tries Wednesday in their overtime win against Houston, giving the Cougars their first home loss in five games.s
It was the first-ever meeting of the two programs. UAPB is now 0-18 against Big 12 opponents.
The Red Raiders led by 10 points once and nine three times in the first half, including a 35-26 at halftime, but couldn't separate themselves further from the Golden Lions.
Marcel Mosely, UAPB's leading scorer, was held to five points on two shots from the field.
Texas Tech struggled against the Golden Lions zone defense but still managed to get 14 points in the paint -- all layups. They got nine points off nine turnovers by Arkansas-Pine Bluff, while yielding just three points off their seven turnovers.
Coming off a career-high 33 points in an overtime win at Houston earlier this week, UAPB’s Mosley was held below his season average of 17.9 points per game, which coming into the game led the Southwestern Athletic Conference in scoring. He shot three of 14 from the field. He was the high scorer in seven of the team's last 10 games before Friday's game.
Marquette def Alabama A&M 83-49

MILWAUKEE -- Luke Fischer was perfect from the floor, making all eight of his field goal attempts to finish with 22 points and lead Marquette to an 83-49 rout of Alabama A&M on Friday night.
Fischer made 6 of 8 free throws and grabbed six rebounds. Steve Taylor Jr. had 16 points and six boards, and Juan Anderson chipped in 13 points for Marquette (6-4).
Matt Carlino added eight points and eight assists, and Duane Wilson had eight points and five steals for the Golden Eagles, who shot 30 of 49 for 61.2 percent from the floor.
Marquette led 40-20 at the break, and Jajuan Johnson's jumper stretched the Golden Eagles' lead to 31 points with 15:33 to play.
Rakiya Battle scored 18 points and dished out five assists, and Nicholas West had 14 points with nine rebounds to lead Alabama A&M (1-7).
