Miles informed LSU that he has no intentions of taking the Michigan job and will stay in Baton Rouge.

There had been reports coming out of Ann Arbor that Michigan had contacted Mile's agent to see what interest, if any, the LSU head coach would have in the Wolverines job.
Of course with all reports when it comes to potential coaching candidates for an open vacancy at a big school like Michigan, must be taken with a grain of salt. That was no different here as the LSU athletic director Joe Alleva claimed no one from the Wolverines had contacted him at all about asking permission to talk to Miles about the job or anything like that.
Have to give Miles credit here, he did not clam up about this situation like other coaches would have instantly. He has been honest, open and forthcoming about staying at LSU, he has not wavered one bit about his commitment to LSU and his intentions to stay there for the foreseeable future.
This method works out perfectly as now Miles and his LSU Tigers team can now just focus on the upcoming bowl game and off season plan. This also helps in recruiting as opposing coaches cannot use the he might be leaving for another job card. Miles and his staff can now sell their targeted recruits that he will be at LSU for the long haul and is committed to being there for them.
Stability is one of the biggest factors when it comes to decision making for recruits. It is understandable as they do not want to have to go through the experience of having to through meeting a new coach and adjusting to their style of football.
This is the third time Miles has declined to leave for Ann Arbor since 2007 and it is easy to see why. He has compiled a record of 103-28 in ten seasons as the head man in charge of the Tigers program. He was won a national championship, went to another and has won two SEC conference titles in his time in Baton Rouge, marks that rival the best in the program's rich history.
He has all the resources at his fingertips to continue to win and win big for years to come, a great fan base that is loyal and an administration that is serious about winning at the highest level of college football.
This is not to say that Michigan does not have these qualities to their program but Miles has a great thing going at LSU and would be silly to step away from that and go to a program in Michigan which will be a total rebuilding job for the first couple of seasons.
Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side and Miles staying at LSU proves that theory true.
