Rex Ryan is a sharp witted man who knows when he is in a situation that is going great and he can see long term success in an done that is  nearing its end and will force him to find a new team and place to call home. The latter of those two is true right now for Ryan, so much so that reports have surfaced that he has cleaned out his office at the Jets practice facility in Florham Park, NJ.

Now Ryan has not been officially told that he will not be back for next season by the Jets, it was reported that he found out that newly hired Jets consultant Charley Casserly has start to contact potential candidates that  could replace him as head man of the franchise.  All that is left to do is for the Jets to pick out a reason as to why they are moving on without Ryan.

Their is no reason for Ryan not to make this move now, why wait for official word when he knows their is not chance at all that he returns next season. Getting a head start on the move out will only benefit both parties as they will look to their next  chapters in one their franchise and  the other in his career.

Waiting until the season if over and then giving word to Ryan he is not being brought back only wastes time that could be used much more wisely.  Everyone has known for weeks that he would not come back off such a disappointing and horrible season that this has been for Ryan's Jets team. He has not been able to push the right buttons to get this team out of its deep slump that it has been in seemly in since the start of the season.

Ryan will not be unemployed for long. He is still regarded highly by players and people in the NFL for his defensive scheme and ability to put a defensive game plan together and have it be executed by his players.

Teams  are always looking for an upgrade when it comes to their defenses and he would be a hot pick if he decided to become a coordinator again next season. He would thrive in that role and position himself to become  a head coach again and be able to be selective and choose the right fir for him and his family.

Ryan could also have the want to jump right back into the head coaching pool and try to make it happen with a team such as the Falcons, 49ers or other teams that will have opening head coaching vacancies as the off season for teams out of playoff contention get started on next season's work.

Though this part of his career is coming to a close, Ryan will no doubt pop up on some NFL sideline in some capacity next season, seeing if he can generate some high level success for his next venture.
