Russell Wilson and the Seahawks started off the game with a bang as they opened the game with a methodical 65 yard drive that was capped with a 15 yard touchdown catch by Jermaine Kearse from Wilson to give Seattle a quick 7-0 lead. Coming off a bye week, they looked very sharp and efficient.
Thanks to some costly penalties, the Redskins defense was able to hold the Seahawks to a field goal attempt and avoid the touchdown they had given up twice but were called back on penalties against Seattle.
Russell Wilson would showcase just how special of a quarterback he really is on their next drive as he scrambled around on a play that seemed like he was going to just take a loss to live for another down but instead he kept moving around and found an open man down the field and threw a perfect pass to, keeping the drive alive.
The touch and velocity he got on that pass was a thing of beauty/ He then took the next snap and ran into the end zone, giving the Seahawks a 17-0 lead. Wilson would finish a sterling performance by going 18/24 for 201 yards and two touchdown passes also ran 11 times for 122 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Redskins finally would show signs of life on offense as DeSean Jackson scored a 60 yard touchdown off of a terrific reception and avoiding contact with the Seattle secondary. It cut the deficit to 17-7 and a much needed injection of energy and life into the team and stadium. That would be the biggest catch Jackson made all night as he finished with five catches for 157 yards and one touchdown.
Washington would creep closer to Seattle as they got a nice drive going before they failed to convert on 3rd & 1 which lead to a 27 yard field goal by Kai Forbath to cut the deficit to 17-10. After that score the rest of the third quarter was a field position battle as neither offense could get anything going.
Seahawks would finally reach the end zone thanks to a long, sustained drive that took 6:31 off the clock in the 4th quarter. They got some success on the ground to balance out there attack and help keep the Redskins guessing on defense during the drive.
It was finished with a physical catch and run by Marshawn Lynch who went 9 yards for the score and have Seattle a 24-10 lead. Lynched had a quiet night outside of that rushing for only 72 yards on 12 carries.
Washington would not go down without a fight to their credit as Cousins led a lightening quick touchdown drive that got them right back into this game. Andre Roberts caught the 6 yard touchdown score and completed an 80 yard drive that took all of 2:56 off the clock, giving themselves hope of a comeback still. Cousins would finish the night 21/36 for 283 yards and two touchdown passes.
Those hopes were dashed when Wilson made the play of the night as he nearly was sacked and was able to slip out and throw a strike down the field to save the drive and get the Seahawks into field gola range.
It was one of those plays you just marvel at and wonder how he can pull it off. Hauscka made the 43 yard field goal to ice the game for the Seahawks.
