Just a week after Colin Kaepernick hit Michael Crabtree 8 times for 125 yards and 2 TD's, he switches it up and finds Anquan Boldin 8 times for 136 yards and 0 TD's. Although not registering a touchdown today, he helped set up Vernon Davis for his only reception of the day, a 1 yard touchdown pass, and Kaepernick who ran for a 4 yard touchdown, which would eventually seal the deal for the San Francisco 49ers, who have now punched their ticket to the NFC Title Game winning 23-10, for a 3rd consecutive year under 3rd year coach, Jim Harbaugh, and a NFL record 15th overall appearance.
After Cam Newton and Carolina Panthers ran wild on the Niners in the first half, they just couldn't capitalize, after having 2 drives end just short of goal line (one turning into a turnover on downs and the other being a field goal). The Panthers offense remained still for the remainder of the game, not able to push their way through the Niners defense at all, also forcing Newton to throw 2 INT and being sacked 3 times in the second half.
Newton and Kaepernick didn't vary much in statistics, but it all came down to who could close the deal, and thats where Kap took advantage. To follow in the tracks of this weekends other playoff games, this game would be filled with trash talking and hard hitting, including a controversial head butt penalty on Carolina, it also included Kaepernick mocking Cam Newtons touchdown celebration, then following with his traditional bi-cep kissing sensation known as Kaepernicking, and the crowd responded with angry, with obvious reason.
Now the San Francisco 49ers advance to face their arch-rival, Seattle Seahawks in Seattle, NFC West vs NFC West, Carroll vs Harbaugh, Wilson vs Kaepernick, Crabtree vs Sherman, its a gridiron showdown of the ages.
