As reporters wrote how Portland's Damian Lillard tied the game in the final seconds on a double-pump three pointer, Monta Ellis rose to the occasion with a 21-foot jumper to win it at the buzzer changing the story.

"I was born for it", said Monta after the game. "I love that time of the game. I've hit a couple of game winners in my career...you always like to have that confidence to take the last shot, and I got it."

The game was setup for a great finish with 18 lead changes. The Mavs were able to hold MVP caninidate LaMarcus Aldridge to only 19 points, but Lillard hit 32.

Dirk Nowitzki was the Mavericks leading scorer with 28 points, but his best play of the night was playing the decoy to setup Ellis for the game-winner.

Coach Rick Carlisle summed the win up the best saying, "Jose [Calderon] threw a great pass, Monta made a great shot and we got out of here alive."
