It was hard to watch the performance of the Cowboys running game a day after watching DeMarco Murray run for a touchdown in an Eagles uniform.

The thought that a mix of Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar, and a reincarnation of Darren McFadden would be the running attack needed to replace the NFL offensive player of the year looks like a mere pipe dream. The threesome combined for 10 carries and 34 yards.

The debut of McFadden hurt the worst. After missing most of camp nursing a hamstring, the former Oakland Raider first round pick had three consecutive carries for four yards. The Cowboys pushed him to play this game to get a sense of just were he is physically. The result only fuels the opinion that the team will be adding another back before week one of the regular season. Regardless of missing half of the starting offensive line, his performance was not good.

"Let's just be hard on ourselves. I think tonight is where we need to look at it just for what it is. It was not fun," - Jerry Jones

"It was not very good. It wasn't very good on offense. It wasn't very good on defense. It wasn't very good in the kicking game. It wasn't very good early, middle, or late." - Jason Garrett

REPORT CARD

Cowboys Offense: D-

Honestly, the offense would easily get an F if it was the regular season. They did not get a first down until the second quarter. No real running game, no passing game, four sacks, and 3 interceptions thrown...

Cowboys Defense: C-

The defense gave up 155 yards rushing and created zero turnovers.

Cowboys Special Teams: F

Rugby star Jarryd Hayne averaged 28-yards per return. Surefooted Dan Bailey missed a FG and they had a punt blocked for a TD.

Cowboy Coaching: C

I can't help but to feel that they are being way to cautius with the starters.

Takeaways:

Randy Gregory will be bright spot for the Cowboys. Let's pray we don't have to go to Dustin Vaughan in the regular season.
