This win improves Indianapolis to 6-3 and gives them a two game lead over second place Houston in the AFC South division. It sets them up well as they are about to start a three game home stand after their bye week. For the Giants they must pick up the pieces at 3-5 and go to Seattle to face the defending Superbowl champion sin the Seahawks.
Colts would get on the board as Vinatieri nailed a 48 yard field goal to give them the early 3-0 lead. They were able to settled into this game and quiet down the crowd at MetLife Stadium.
Indianapolis scored again courtesy of some smart awareness by their quarterback in Andrew Luck. He spotted the Giants defense not set for the next play and he quick snapped them and the result was a 32 yard catch by Coby Fleener who ran easily into the end zone.
It was an inexcusable gaffe by the Giants to have something like that to happen. For Indianapolis, it was a great play and sequence to increase their lead to 10-0.
The Giants finally would answer and get on the board with a field goal of their own,a 38 yard field goal courtesy of Josh Brown, to make it a one possession game at 10-3. They showed some signs of getting out of neutral offensively and started to pout some successful plays together
The Colts would counter with a solid drive that stalled out in the Giants red zone, forcing another Vinatieri field goal, which he made, from 31 yards out to make it 13-3 Colts.
Just before the half, the visitors would add three more to their lead courtesy of a third Vinateri field goal to make it 16-3 Colts.
They would continue their dominance of this game as Andrew Luck connected with T.Y Hilton on an 31 yard touchdown pass made even more incredible with how Hilton ripped the ball from Cromartie of the Giants who had the ball in his possession but got it taken away and turned it from an interception into seven points for the Colts. It increased their lead to 23-3.
The Giants offense finally showed life on their next drive as Manning led them on an 84 yard drive in just over two minutes to close the gap to 23-10 courtesy of a Andre Williams one yard touchdown run. That would be one of the very few highlights for him as he finished 27/52 for 359 yards and two touchdown passes.
Luck and company would sniff out that Giants momentum in quick order as he went right down the field and capped it with a beautiful pass to Reggie Wayne who went 40 yards untouched into the end zone for the score and 30-10 lead for the Colts. It continued the pattern of Luck shredding this Giants secondary.
The Colts continued to pour it on as they scored the easiest touchdown you will see score din this NFL season as Luck faked the hand off to Bradshaw which left a wide open Dwayne Allen in the end zone, which Luck hit for the 3 yard touchdown pass. It made the score 37-10 and forced even more Giants fans who were at the stadium to call it a night and head for the exits. Luck finished the night 25/46 for 354 yards and four touchdowns.
Vinatieri would tack on another field goal to make it a 40-10 Colts lead.
New York would score two late touchdowns to make the score look closer than the game actually was.
