Seattle will get a conditional draft pick for the 2015 draft from New York.

Harvin is no stranger to being on the trade block as he just 19 months ago went through this exact same process. That time around, he was traded by the Minnesota Vikings to the Seattle Seahawks for the 25th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft and two additional draft selections.

The only difference in this trade is that Harvin is being traded for a mid round pick that could be as high as a second round pick or be as low as  a forth round pick depending on how he performs the rest of the season with the Jets.

The Seahawks were still under the contract salary cap wise of Harvin's contract which they gave him a six year $64 million dollar deal after acquiring him from the Vikings. He came with such a big price tag because of the big play ability he showed with his years in Minnesota. Seattle at the time was in need of  a big play receiver  to get their offense to the next level in terms of efficiency and explosiveness.

Seattle will have to deal with trying to sign some more of its key members of the team after this season ends, including quarterback Russell Wilson. Clearing out Harvin's contact will definitely help their salary cap situation and give some more room for them to work with as they try to get a new deal done with Wilson and others who have been so huge in helping the franchise win its first Super Bowl last season and become one of the elite teams in all of the NFL.

Though Harvin was the Seahawk's leader in receptions with 22 so far this season he still was not only third in receiving yards with 133 yards, behind Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse.  He was able to at times make plays that would help the offense sustain drives but never able to elevate the offense in the way he or the team at first thought he could.

As for his new team the Jets, he will have an opportunity to increase his production as he will enter an offense that likes to throw the ball at a much more frequent pace than the Seahawks. The question will be how fast can he pick up this new offense and how will he gel with quarterback Geno Smith. Only time will tell.
