The Bleacher Report reports that Lakers  point guard and  two time MVP in Steve Nash is done for the entire upcoming season due to recurring nerve damage in his back.

This was anticipated as the 19th and final season for the 40 year old Nash in the NBA. This latest development now unfortunately makes the end come much faster than him, the Lakers or anyone in basketball wanted to see for him.  He now faces the very difficult decision  is to when to announce his retirement from the game he has poured so many blood , sweat and tears into.

In 15 games with the Lakers last season, he only averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 assists a game for Los Angeles, a far cry from what his MVP years offered in terms of production.

Unfortunately this is not a new injury for Nash to deal with. For most of his career, Nash has had to deal with this degenerative nerve damage and had to account for it and take care of it through these long, tiring NBA regular seasons. Back to his days in Phoenix you could always see him get that time where he would go to the bench and lay down and stretch out to keep his back in good order and from tightening up.

As soon as left the Suns, Nash's  body was never the same as his body further developed problems and took away from his overall ability to play his game at the level he was accustomed to playing it at. It got to the point where he needed epidurals to help with the pain that he had to deal with in his back constantly.

The most recent injury he fell under is when he injured himself by just simply picking up bags. It for all purposes ends what has been a tremendous career that is highlighted by two MVPs and helping a Suns franchise be transformed from a doormat in the Western Conference to one that quickly surged to be a  player in the Western Conference with its fast tempo style of basketball and be a title contender every season.

Though a comeback attempt has not been ruled out, Nash most likely has seen his last games as a player on the court.
