A recap of all the craziness and action that happened yesterday in the MLB Playoffs

Orioles 7, Tigers 6

The Orioles were facing a three run deficit in the eighth inning and did not tighten up at all. In fact, they were brimming with confidence especially when they were facing a very unreliable and leaky bullpen of the Tigers. Fresh off the bench, Delmon Young came up with the biggest hit of this game as he drove in three with a pinch hit three run RBI double that would prove to be more than enough as the Orioles are now just a win away from their first appearance in an ALCS round  since 1997.

The Orioles once again beat up on an already beleaguered Detroit bullpen that once again could not close the deal for the Tigers. They wasted a solid effort from Justin Verlander and an offensive output that looked for a time would be enough for Detroit to get the win and split of the two games. Instead, they will have to win Game 3 back home if they are to continue their postseason run.

Giants 3, Nationals 2

Jake Peavy brought his a game to Nationals park as he carried  a no hitter into the fifth inning of his start and then handed the ball off to a nicely rested bullpen that was able to walk the right rope and seal the victory for San Francisco which has now won nine consecutive postseason games.

They were the beneficiary of also some timely hitting by Joe Panik, Buster Posey and Brandon Belt who all had RBI hits to give their team the three runs that were just enough to hold off a Nationals team that is still feeling the pressure of not winning  a postseason series in its franchise history. They had some sloppy play and  at bats that were not the usual patient  ones Wahsington has done all season long.

Cardinals 10, Dodgers 9

St Louis showed their never say die attitude in full as they were able to overcome a 6-1 deficit in the late innings to stun Los Angeles and take the first game of this NLDS.

Matt Carpenter, a thorn in Kershaw's side last year in the NLCS, once again had a long at bat against the Dodgers ace and finally got  a pitch that he drove out to the right field wall which cleared the bases and gave the Cardinals a 7-6 lead at the time. It capped  a comeback that was shocking to see happen as Kershaw was cruising through the middle innings before running out of gas in the seventh inning.

Royals 4, Angels 1 (11 Innings)

Eric Hosmer continued to magical late inning success for the Royals as he hit a two run home run in the 11th inning as KC once again thwarted the Angels in their own building once again. Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez added RBI hits to the total as well for Kansas City as they got timely hitting, great defensive play and quality pitching from the starter Yordano Ventura right through the bullpen which kept  the Angels once again struggling for nay consistent offensive output.

The Royals became the first team in MLB history to win  three consecutive extra inning postseason games, which is remarkable considering they have done all this in only four days time. They now have a big opportunity to close out the Angels at home and advance to the ALCS.
