According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had his MRI done and it showed that he had no fracture on his ankle. Griffin is still awaiting word from his doctor, Dr. Anderson, to see the test results but he does not believe that he will need surgery.

This is obviously a positive sign for all involved despite Griffin still sporting crutches and a cast on his injured foot. It looked like it would be  a much worse scenario after Griffin dislocated his ankle Sunday against the Jaguars. There is no word yet on the timeline for Griffin's recovery and when he could possibly be back for the Redskins this season.

At a press conference today, Head Coach  Jay Gruden said that Griffin does have a chance to return this season for the Redskins. The timetable for recovery for Griffin is still unclear and Gruden said it will be "a couple of weeks" before they know how long Griffin will need in order to be fully healthy again and ready for play. Gruden also said the team does not know the extent of the ligament damage RGIII suffered and that results of the MRI have been sent  to Griffin's doctor, Dr. Anderson.

For now its looks as if Kirk Cousins will be the Redskins quarterback for the foreseeable future until their is clarification on RGIII's recovery time frame. Washington played very well with Cousins under center on Sunday and could lead to some controversy down the road should Griffin get healthy and be ready to comeback when Cousins might be leading the team to wins and playing well while doing it. Gruden commented on this possible scenario saying "we''ll cross that bridge when we come to it"

That will be a possible decision for Coach Jay Gruden to ponder later on this season, but for now all the focus is on Griffin and when he could possibly be back. Stay tuned to RFSportsRadio as we will update this story when more details about his recovery come out.
