In recent news in the NFL Michael Sam was recently cut from the St. Louis Rams in favor of fellow defensive linemen Ethan Westbrooks. Following being cut, Sam went unclaimed on waivers until recently.

At first it was a head scratcher as to why no one wanted to add him to the practice roster. After all Sam recorded multiple sacks in the preseason and even added his preseason high of six tackles in the Rams last preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. Maybe teams were still fazed by "potential" media circus but the Rams seemed to have dealt with that pretty well as they had no issues with Sam.

Michael Sam has shown that he has some ability to play in the NFL unfortunately he had to go against the odds of making the Rams roster because they are loaded on the defensive line. There are still other teams looking for pass rushers, and one of those teams happened to be the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys lack depth in that department and Sam could provide a solid backup for them as an option to mull over and give a chance to see what he could do in their defensive scheme.

They plan on bringing Sam in for a physical, and if all goes well, he will be a member of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. Sam even has a good chance of being on the Cowboy's active roster because of recent injuries to pass rushers there.

The Rams did draft Michael Sam, and it also happens that they play the Cowboys in week 3 in St. Louis. If Sam is on the active roster by then he will look to have a big game against them. Sam does admit he is thankful for the opportunity the Rams gave him and that there are no hard feelings.
