New York carved out the golden scoring opportunities in the  first half. At the six minute mark Lloyd Sam burst to the end line before a crossing pass to Wright-Phillips who missed the ball but somehow was directed back to Tim Cahill who tapped a shot that was stopped by a lunging Impact goalie Evan Bush.
In the 24th minute, Henry left footed shot from just outside the box whistled left of the goal net.
Montreal broke through in the 37th minute as Montville, New Jersey Dilly Duka surged into the Red Bulls zone off a great feed at midfield drilling a shot into the left corner of the net making the score 1-0.
In the second half, the chances came early for New York as Wright-Phillips header bounced off the left goal post. The equalizer came soon thereafter as Eric Alexander’s curling pass into the box found Henry whose diving header into the right corner of the net tied the match up at 1-1. Henry tallied his second goal in the 67 minute after a crossing pass from Dax McCarty flicked the ball off the right post and bounced into the back of the net giving the Red Bulls a 2-1 advantage.
Seven minutes later New York increased the lead to 3-1 as Henry perfect left footed pass to Wright-Phillips who slotted a shot into the left side of the net.
However, five minutes later Montreal responded as Andres Romero blasted a left curling shot into the upper left region of the net making it a one goal match. Wright-Phillips answered with his second goal in extra time snapping a shot inside far right corner of the net.
With the goal, Wright-Phillips broke the Red Bulls record for most goals scored in a single season with his 20th passing Juan Pablo Angel.

New York outshot Montreal 18-14 with eight of them on goal compared to five for the Impact. The Red Bulls face a quick turnaround as they host CD FAS on Tuesday in the CONCAF Champions League. Their next MLS match is next Sunday against D.C. United.
