We are all expecting to hear that a trade has been completed by the Houston Rockets and an unnamed team to send Omer Asik, but talk is only speculation at this point. Asik has been rumored to request a trade ever since Dwight Howard was signed to play center. An interesting exchange between Asik and Dallas Mavericks fans last night could be foreshadowing of things to come.
The Rockets lost a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter to the Dallas Mavericks, losing 120-123. Asik played only 12 minutes and only logged one point and five rebounds on the night. He missed games last week from what coach Kevin McHale called being "under the weather" fueling more trade speculation.
As Omer walked to the team bus from the locker room he was met with a small group of Mavericks fans telling him, "just wait Omer, you will be a Maverick next week!"
He smiled as he tried his best to act like he did not hear the fans as they repeated, "Don't worry, we love you here in Dallas." It did draw a laugh from the Turkish born seven-footer.
When asked what he thought about the idea of coming to Dallas he turned to comment, but noticed the media credential and said, "I'm not telling you."
