The Los Angeles Lakers never had a chance, as the Dallas Mavericks led from start to finish in a blowout victory 123-104. The Mavs are now 3-0 at home this season, equaling their last season's 3-1 start.

Monta Ellis continues to impress shooting 11-of-14 from the floor for 30-points to lead all scorers. He also had nine of the team's 34 assists in the game.

"He's just a different kind of weapon", says coach Rick Carlisle. "His catch-and-go-ability, his speed in transition, his ability to change direction and attack the rim is unique in this league."

Carlisle went as far as to compare Ellis to other premier guards in the NBA like James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Chris Paul. "Not only is he fast", continued Carlisle, "but his change of speed and deception is really unique, too."

The Mavs flexed their scoring ability, now ranked 2nd in the league with an average of 114.3 per game, putting up 35 in the first quarter without Dirk Nowiztki hitting a shot.

Second year forward Jae Crowder came off the bench at went 7-of-9, including four three pointers, for a total of 18 points. He is now ranked 3rd in the league for three-point percentage with 71.4%.

For the Lakers, now 2-3 on the year without Kobe Bryant, the does not seem to be an answer for the blowout loss. "You can't get blown out", says Coach Mike D'Antoni, "and then think now we need to learn to win. No, we need to learn how to play. We're not playing right now."

Los Angeles came out flat on the defensive end allowing the Mavs to shoot 51.9% in the first half. Their were also out-rebounded 50 to 35 for the game.

Nick Young led the Lakers with 21-points, but contributed three of the 14 turnovers the team had.

The Mavericks will now have to take their show on the road, as five of the next six games are on the road including tomorrow night's contest against the OKC Thunder with Russell Westbrook.
