Carolina Panthers take on NY Giants to end winless season. Photo credit NFL |
We are in week 3 of the young NFL season and eight teams have started out 0-2. Two teams were in the playoffs just last season, while others are perennial division favorites that find themselves rebuilding or nursing some critical injuries on their roster. Then again, some of the teams are just that bad.
1. Washington Redskins - You could make the argument that their first two games was an extended preseason, since their best player RGIII has only played in two games back from surgery. The have been blown out the first half of both games, but seem to be able to put up points in the second half.
2. Minnesota Vikings - This team only lost by one point last week to the Chicago Bears. They rank 7th in points in the NFL. Their injuries, outside of Phil Loadholt, have all been on the defensive side of the ball.
3. Carolina Panthers - I know they only average 15 points per game and Cam Newton has thrown for only 354 yards total, but they are better than the other teams below them on this list. They, like the Vikings, suffered a one point loss last week to the Buffalo Bills.
4. New York Giants - In 2007, the Giants started 0-2 and won the Super Bowl. That has to count for something.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers - It can't get any worse for the Steelers. Having Mike Tomlin as your head coach puts you above the remaining teams. As the weather starts to change, their style of play could only help.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Talk about an implosion! The team may be in total disarray and head coach Greg Schiano may be checking the college coach want ads, but they do have some talent on their roster. Too bad they can't seem to play together.
7. Cleveland Browns - They are only #7 because #8 is a no brainer.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - When the small amount of supporters you do have hold a rally to bring in Tim Tebow, you have some serious problems.
