Mavs "Not Comfortable" up 0-3; Game 4 Pregame Report
"We have too much respect for the opponent" commented head coach Rick Carlisle during the pregame press conference. The story of this series so far has been the defense of Jason Kidd on Kobe Bryant in the fourth quarter. When asked about Kidd's D coach said, " We haven't had to put him on him for long stretches. That has been the biggest help for Kidd."
You have to credit the Mavs defense as a whole for the 0-3 lead, plus the unstoppable shot of Dirk Nowitzki. Coach went on to say, "Each team knows what the other team is doing at this point. Great players break down coverages, then you have to scramble. Good teams are going to adjust to any defense."
When asked about the return of Artest he said, " He always plays well after being suspended. It's a fact."
Is this Phil Jackson's last game?
"There are no similar games in the playoffs" is how Phil described today's game 4 with his team down 0-3. All but one of Jackson's kids will be in attendance tonight for what may be the legendary coach's last.
This is a career first, for the head coach down 0-3, but the Lakers have been down 0-2 in their last 4 playoff series. When asked what makes him think his team can do the impossible and come back he said "experience in tough games."
His players seem to be on board as well stating that Kobe wants to play 48 minutes today. For a coach who has written so much history in the NBA, he now has to create a totally new chapter and come back from 0-3.

Mavs vs Blazers Game 4 Live from Portland!
Owner Mark Cuban was calm and collected before today's early tip off has he watched his superstar Dirk Nowitzki take jumpers. The truth is the Mavericks have lost 7 straight road playoff games. Today is going to be a test to live up to one of the best road game NBA records this season in the hostile Rose Garden. The focus in Portland sways between the emergence of Brandon Roy and the refs. It's hard not to focus on the refs if your a Mavs fan given their history circa 2006.
Tonight both teams will have to play hard to set the tone the rest of the way knowing there will be atleast a game 5 to play.

Mavs vs Blazers Game 2 "The Real Matchup"
Coach Carlisle knows that his team will have to do a much better job Portland's big man Marcus Camby. "Camby was very influential in the game due to lobs, blocks, and rebounds." He also added, " he is a very skilled playmaking 7 footer." The Mavs will need to do more downlow to limit Camby who had 18 rebounds in game one.
The series started with everyone looking at the matchup of power forwards Dirk and Lamarcus Aldridge, the Dallas area native. The most important matchup tonight will be the center positions. The Blazers are one of the longest teams in the NBA. Tonight the Mavs will have to hold serve before going to the hostile Rose Garden for games 3 and 4.
