Is Lance Armstrong a Hero or Hypocrite?
Dallas,TX - In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, scheduled to air in two parts on her OWN network starting tomorrow, Lance Armstrong continues his fall from grace by admitting to doping. The cycling community in Texas, his home base, have known for years how cutthroat Lance can be when he feels the need to defend himself. Armstrong has used his unprecedented feats of physical power to fuel his LiveStrong foundation which is based in the Austin area. There is no question that LiveStrong has done more than enough good for the fight against cancer with funding, research, and hope. Once the Cycling Federation decided to strip Lance of all records, titles, and ban him for life from cycling the foundation took a huge hit in donations while he continued to scream "innocent" from every media mountain top.Now he is asking for your forgiveness for lying. Forgiveness for making

What do Darren Collision and Vince Carter think about the Mavs back-to-back wins
We recently caught up with Darren Collison and Vince Carter of the Dallas Mavericks for a few fan questions relating to this up-and-down season and trade rumors. The Dallas Mavericks have been able to put together back-to-back wins and have 3 more home games against contending teams.
Darren Collison
RFSR: Tell us a little about the morale of the team after putting together back-to-back wins?
Darren Collison: It felt good. It really feels good right now. We just got to keep moving forward in the right direction, stay committed on the defensive end and I think we should be fine.
RFSR: Coach Carlisle talked a lot about how he wants you guys to be more fluid with ball, not to many set plays. Do you feel like you guys are getting into that mode of basketball?
Darren Collison: Yeah. I think we are understanding what he expects from us. We understand what we expect from each other. It's real hard to score in this league. A lot of teams are so good on the defensive end, you can't keep running to many set plays. You just gotta go and play basketball.
Vince Carter
RFSR: Coach Carlisle talked a lot about how you guys need to be more fluid with the ball, not to many set plays, because that is what wins in the playoffs. Are you guys getting to that point now?

NFL Weekend Recap: AFC and NFC Championship is set
Falcons 30 Seahawks 28
The Atlanta Falcons and Matt Ryan finally exercise their playoff demons by defeating the hottest team in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks in heart attack fashion. The jumped out to an early dominate lead over Seattle 20-0 at halftime. Russell Wilson finally got the offense going in the third quarter connecting with Golden Tate for a 29 yard touchdown. After the third quarter, the Seahawks went on a 21 point run to take the lead for the first time with only :31 seconds left in the game. With the weight of Atlanta on his shoulders, Matt Ryan lead a 2 play scoring drive with the help of Roddy White and Tony Gonzales capped with a 49 yard field goal from Matt Bryant.Coach Smith said in his post game comments, "Our quarterback is a special player. They call him Matty Ice, but I feel like we've got two Matty Ices. There's Matty Ice Ryan and Matty Ice Bryant."
This Falcon win was not easy, but again beating Seattle is easy at all. They played their way into the number one spot in the NFC and today they earned. This is Matt Ryan first playoff win in 4 attempts.
49ers 45 Packers 31
Reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers could not match newcomer Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers made a quarterback change after Alex Smith, the QB that took the 49ers to the NFC Championship last year, suffered a concussion. This was the game that it all made since.
"I didn't know how fast he was. Coming in I never really paid attention to it. But he is fast", says Green Bay Packer Charles Woodson.
Kaepernick rushed for 181 yards breaking a postseason NFL record for quarterbacks set twice ironically by Michael Vick when he played with the Atlanta Falcons. In his first playoff game, he ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for 2 touchdowns.
Colin Kaepernick's comments after the win, "Our receivers our tight ends, blocked great outside, and our running backs were running hard, so it made it easier on me."
Ravens 38 Broncos 35
It took 2 overtime periods to decide a winner in a NFL battle that will be apart of two Hall of Fame career summaries, Ray Lewis and Peyton Manning. The story of this game starts with what is now being called the "Flacco Fling" as Joe Flacco hit Jacoby Jones for a 70 yard touchdown on 3rd and 30 with :31 seconds left to play.
"At that point you have to start taking shots." said Flacco. "You have to get a little lucky."

Well...it happened...No players selected to Baseball Hall of Fame; Clemens gets more votes than Bonds
In a unprecedented move, the Baseball Writers of America, decide not to vote any players into Cooperstown.
Craig Biggio came the closest with 388 votes, only 68.8%. Players need 75% of the vote to be inducted.
Ironically, Roger Clemens received more votes than Barry Bonds. Clemens received 214 votes, 37.6%, and Barry Bonds got 206 votes, 36.2%.
If the best player and best pitcher are not in the Hall is it really the Hall-of-Fame???
This is the first of many years that PEDs will play a major factor. Sammy Sosa, Rafeal Palmeiro, and Mark McGwire were denied also.

Dallas Cowboys fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan; "I'll be out of work for like five minutes."
Dallas, TX - Jerry Jones promised big changes during the offseason and it seems the first shoe has dropped. Cowboys release defensive coordinator Rob Ryan after two years on a three year deal.
Ryan was quoted on ESPNDallas.com, "I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better. I f***ing made them a hell of a lot better. I'll be out of work for like 5 minutes."
The Dallas defense was the injured list for most of this season. Ryan rarely had the chance to coach his starters at all. Most of the time is was collection of players literally off the street.
Jones has also decided to part ways with the running back coach also, but fans want to know when will he hold the players accountable for another 8-8 season. Mainly, they want to know if he will finally replace Tony Romo.

Tide rolls over Notre Dame to win BCS Championship 42-14
It is designed to leave the best for last, but the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame did not seem to be in the same weight class with Alabama. The Crimson Tide scored early and often putting up a 28-0 shut out in the first half. They went on to win 42-14.
Everyone that picked Notre Dame to win, including myself, felt it would be a low scoring contest due the Irish defense led by Manti Te'o. The most decorated linebacker in recent history looked more like a bull fighter than a brick wall as the ESPN broadcast made sure to highlight is missed tackles.
The Alabama offense, led by quarterback A.J. McCarron with running backs Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon, had a total of 529 yards; 265 rushing and 264 passing. Talk about a balance attack.
The Irish offense could not overcome the Tidal Wave defense of Alabama rushing for only 32 total yards. 20 of those yards coming from one long run by Riddick.
This makes Alabama, under Nick Saban, a 3-time BCS Champion in only 4 years. Nick Saban also earns a reported $310,000 bonus on top of his $5.3 million dollar salary for the appearance and win.

NFL Wildcard Weekend Recap...Or something like that
Texans over Bengals 19-13
Matt Schaub gets his first post-season win, but let's be honest...the Texans don't look that good. Yes, they won the game, but I don't think the Patriots have anything to worry about.
Packers over Vikings 24-10
Am I the only sports fan that didn't want to watch the game after hearing Christian Ponder was not going to play. Watching Joe Webb throws balls in the dirt was the total opposite of watching Aaron Rodgers play. I can only imagine what Minnesota people are thinking...maybe, "How hurt was Ponder?"
Ravens over Colts 24-9
Andrew Luck will be a great quarterback in the NFL for a long time, but like most QBs he needs that loss in the playoffs on his record that drives him to seek revenge against the league. This was that lost. It was almost tearful watching Ray Lewis do his last introduction dance in front of the home crowd. Unfortuantely, I think their road ends in Denver next week.
Seahawks over Redskins 24-14
Falcon be very afraid of your bird cousin from the great northwest. The Seahawks look like the toughest team in the NFC after coming from 14 down and dominating 3 solid quarters of football. RG III looked hurt right after the his second TD throw. Makes you wonder what would have happened if Kirk Cousins came in earlier in the game. I also wonder if Russell Wilson told Griffin after the game if, "this game means nothing"

2012 Armed Forces Bowl - Air Force vs Rice; More than a game
In the mix of bowl games that seem to continuously flow from mid-December until after New Year's, one always stands out. It is not so much the game, but what the game stands for. This year the Armed Forces Bowl will make it's way back home in Fort Worth at TCU's new field for good. The last two years the game has been held at SMU Ford Field. It's outside the stadium prior to the game and after that really tells the story.

Outside the stadium is a fair of military power and pride. Drone aircraft, tanks, servicemen and women all adorn the booths with information and activities for all ages. Young men test their strength on the "pull-up" bar and awe at the helicopter perched on the practice field. Most bowl games do not offer the same experience.
Ernesto Marcano, an USAF veteran, will be attending the game for the first time. He learned about the game from his visits to the VA hospital in Dallas. "I'm looking forward to seeing my fellow servicemen the most. I am also taking my brother-in-law and his kids."
This year's game features the Air Force Falcons (6-6) against the Rice Owls (6-6). Rice earned their right to play in the Armed Forces Bowl by defeating UTEP in the Sun Bowl 33-24. Air Force will be playing in it's fourth Armed Forces Bowl, but have only a 1-7 record in Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Since 1998, the Falcons have faced the Owls a total of six previous times with the Falcons winning five of those games. This will be the first time the teams will meet on a neutral field.
Tickets are still available for the game and are as low as $20. Small price to pay to show your support to a bowl that is more than a game.

BYU Comes Out On Top In Poinsettia Bowl.
For the most part, this year's San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl was a very boring game to watch for most viewer's. But it was late in the fourth quarter when BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy stripped the ball from the San Diego State quarterback, Adam Dingwell and jumped on it for a BYU touchdown, which put them ahead 10-6.
On the first play of the next drive for San Diego State, Dingwell fumbled the snap which was then recovered by BYU's Jordan Johnson and ended in a BYU touchdown. After the second touchdown in just 17 seconds, BYU's momentum was sky high as there defense forced five San Diego turnovers, and four of them being in the fourth quarter.
With just 6:09 left in the in game, Kyle Van Noy intercepted Dingwell's pass and returned it to the house for Van Noy's second defensive touchdown of the game and put away SDSU for good. Van Noy was named the defensive MVP after the game. The BYU head coach, Bronco Mendenhall said, "Kyle is a fantastic football player, and changed the game for us and was the reason we won the game."

Meeting Johnny Heisman
Dallas--Last night I had the chance to meet Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Johnny Manziel at the Dallas Mavericks vs Miami Heat game. First impression was the fact that this kid is small! To watch what he has accomplished this season as the Aggies made their debut in the big bad SEC and know be eye to eye with the young man makes me realize why he is so special. He sat court-side as the Heat burned the Mavericks all game, but there was no big crowd around him for autographs or pictures. Just a few media people telling each other, "isn't that Johnny Football?"
With the success of smaller quarterbacks in the NFL lately, like RGIII and Russell Wilson, Manziel as a legitimate chance of throwing the ball on Sunday. It is going to take someone to overlook his stature and focused instead on his will.

Nowitzki shares how he overcame losing to the Miami Heat in the 2006 NBA Finals and being eliminated in the first round in 2007 to lead his team to the NBA championship.
