BYU Comes Out On Top In Poinsettia Bowl.

For the most part, this year's San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl was a very boring game to watch for most viewer's. But it was late in the fourth quarter when BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy stripped the ball from the San Diego State quarterback, Adam Dingwell and jumped on it for a BYU touchdown, which put them ahead 10-6.
On the first play of the next drive for San Diego State, Dingwell fumbled the snap which was then recovered by BYU's Jordan Johnson and ended in a BYU touchdown. After the second touchdown in just 17 seconds, BYU's momentum was sky high as there defense forced five San Diego turnovers, and four of them being in the fourth quarter.
With just 6:09 left in the in game, Kyle Van Noy intercepted Dingwell's pass and returned it to the house for Van Noy's second defensive touchdown of the game and put away SDSU for good. Van Noy was named the defensive MVP after the game. The BYU head coach, Bronco Mendenhall said, "Kyle is a fantastic football player, and changed the game for us and was the reason we won the game."

Miami Heat burn Dallas Mavericks 110-95; Interviews with Lebron James and Chris Bosh

Meeting Johnny Heisman

Dallas--Last night I had the chance to meet Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Johnny Manziel at the Dallas Mavericks vs Miami Heat game. First impression was the fact that this kid is small! To watch what he has accomplished this season as the Aggies made their debut in the big bad SEC and know be eye to eye with the young man makes me realize why he is so special.

He sat court-side as the Heat burned the Mavericks all game, but there was no big crowd around him for autographs or pictures. Just a few media people telling each other, "isn't that Johnny Football?"

With the success of smaller quarterbacks in the NFL lately, like RGIII and Russell Wilson, Manziel as a legitimate chance of throwing the ball on Sunday. It is going to take someone to overlook his stature and focused instead on his will.

Wurzburg To Worldwide: How Dirk Became Dirk! premieres Sunday, Dec. 23 at 9:00 p.m. CT.

The one-hour documentary, shot in Europe during the Mavericks’ preseason trip to Berlin and Barcelona, chronicles Nowitzki’s life and basketball career from his hometown of WurzburgGermany to playing in the NBA in Dallas.

Jets officially grounded; Ryan names McElroy the starter over Tebow

After Mark Sanchez threw the NY Jets out of a chance to reach the postseason, head coach Rex Ryan announced that he will be benched. No real surprise there since Sanchez is at the bottom of almost every quarterback statistic invented this year.

But, it would not be the Jets without headlines. Instead of naming Tim Tebow the starter since he is number two on the depth chart, won 8 games last year with Denver, won a playoff game on the road in Pittsburgh, and was the biggest player acquisition for the team in the off-season  Rex decided the third stringer Greg McElroy would be the best fit.

"I'm going to put Greg out there. In my opinion  its best for our team", commented Rex during his press conference today. Really? If Greg was so vital to the team, then why was he not activated for last night's game?

Are we to believe that Tim Tebow is really that bad? The season is over and you traded for most popular player in the NFL only to not play him. What do you have to lose other than the little fans left in painted green faces?

Dallas Cowboys Josh Brent on the sideline for Steelers game

To the suprise of NFL fans, including Cowboy nation, Josh Brent is seen on the sideline supporting his team. Brent is currently on a $500, 000 dollar bond for intoxicated manslaughter. A charge from a drunk driving accident that killed a teammate and his "best friend" Jerry Brown.
"It's insensitive and careless" commented Boomer Eisiason on the halftime show during the broadcast of the game.
Twitter began to erupt with comments condemning the Dallas Cowboys for allowing Brent on the sidelines for the world to see. Others like myself wondering why if your Josh Brent want to be in such a public setting like a national broadcast audience. It was a blatant attempt to win over people, but bad form by both the player and the team.

The free agent aquistion of Joe Johnson by the Brooklyn Nets paid off last night. Johnson had 28 points total, but it was his jumper at the buzzer of a second overtime that clinched the win.

"The coaches and, like I say, my teammates have the confidence in putting the ball in my hands down the stretch, then I have to come up big for us," - Joe Johnson

Dallas Mavericks lose in double overtime to Celtics 117-115

The Mavs did a great job of battling back from a 14 point deficit and stretching it out to two overtime periods, but 28 turnovers are hard to overcome.

O.J. Mayo lead the Mavericks in scoring with 24 points followed by Darren Collison with 20, but Shawn Marion had the most impressive stat line: 16pts, 11 boards, 7 assists, and 2 blocks.

Paul Pierce led all scorers with 34 points.

Jason Terry vs Dallas Mavericks

Dallas-- Tonight, the 11-10 Dallas Mavericks travel to Boston to take on the 11-9 Celtics. Mavs fans have had to endure watching their former championship team players play against Dallas since last year, but tonight will be different. It will be Jet's turn. This summer, Mark Cuban decided it was time to let the Jet leave the runway and never return. Doc Rivers signaled his landing as soon as possible in Boston. Terry was very thankful to Maverick fans during our interview with him in July, but vowed to make the Mavs pay the first opportunity he got. "Get Ready" he said after his AAU Lady Jets team inched closer to a AAU title. Spending a week with Terry during that time was watching the reality of the NBA. One minute he is talking about plans next year with his Dallas girls basketball team and overnight he is contemplating where to live in New England. Many questioned the decision at the time to allow Jason to leave to save $5 million a year when you have missed out on Deron Williams and other free agents. This year Jet is only averaging 11 points per game coming off a crowded bench in Boston. Let's see if he will takeoff tonight against his former team...

Arkansas-Pine Bluff will be playing for a place in history as well as its first conference title Saturday when the Golden Lions face Jackson State in the SWAC Championship Game at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala.

The Golden Lions (9-2, 8-1 SWAC), champions of the West Division, will register the first 10-win season in school history with a victory.

“That’s definitely a carrot that’s in our sights,’’ UAPB coach Monte Coleman says.

The Golden Lions won nine games in 1994 while playing as an NAIA independent and again in 2006 when they made their first appearance in the SWAC Championship game and lost to Alabama A&M.  They also had a nine-win season in 1990, but the NAIA forced the Golden Lions to forfeit those victories because of rules violation that resulted in the football program receiving the death penalty.

IRI - Kazemi a man with the plan

EUGENE (FIBA Asia Championship/FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Arsalan Kazemi's recent transfer from Rice to the Oregon Ducks could hardly have gone any better.
Players are often required to sit out an entire academic year before they play for another school, but the 22-year-old Iranian received clearance from the NCAA to play this season.
He´s wearing the Oregon green, yellow and black and putting smiles on the faces of the Ducks faithful at the Matthew Knight Arena.
A 2.01m small forward who played for Iran's national side at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and at the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship, Kazemi is proving to be an all-rounder.
In Saturday's 80-59 triumph over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, a win that improved the Ducks to 7-1 - their best start since 2007 when they won eight of their first nine games - Kazemi had game-highs in rebounds (13) and steals (five).
